CALGARY, Oct. 22 /CNW/ - The Energy Council of Canada will present
Patrick D. Daniel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Enbridge Inc. with
the 2007 Canadian Energy Person of the Year award at the Shaw Conference
Centre in Edmonton on Tuesday, October 23. The evening will be also attended
by dignitaries such as Honourable Mel Knight, provincial Minister of Energy
and Honourable Gary Lunn, federal Minister of Natural Resources.
Established in 2001 by the Energy Council of Canada, the Canadian Energy
Person of the Year award recognizes and pays tribute to leaders who have made
remarkable contributions in the energy and business or government sectors, as
well as the community at large.
One of the foremost characteristics of recipients is their strong sense
of social responsibility and belief in giving back to the community by
focusing on environmental and social issues, and economic development. Through
their forward-thinking and innovative spirit, these leaders promote the
Canadian energy sector and Canada's role as a major player in the world energy
market. The recipient serves as an ambassador for Canada's energy sector and
is committed to a clear vision of a sustainable energy future.
The Energy Council of Canada is the Canadian national member of the World
Energy Council and is made up of representatives from all facets of Canada's
