Media advisory - Open Organs - Free organ concerts at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel

    MONTREAL, Sept. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - Sunday, 30 September, attend a free
organ concert at historic Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel. This activity is
part of the program of the Orgue et couleurs festival and les journées de la
culture. The 60-minute concert will take place at 2 p.m. and again at 4 p.m.
    In turn, you will hear the main Casavant organ (1910) and the positive
Juget-Sinclair (2002) in works for solo organ or for organ and recorder
ensemble. Accompanied by Trio 24 , titular organist of
Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours, Benoît Marineau, will release the power of the
chapel's organs.
    Included in the program will be music from a number of pages of the Livre
d'orgue de Montréal, brought to Montreal from France in the 18th century by
Jean Girard, a Sulpician cleric who was the first organist of Notre Dame
Church. Works of Bach, Buxtehude, Marcello and Pachelbel will also be played.
    After each concert, anyone interested is invited to the organ loft to
meet the organist and try out the instrument.
