TORONTO, May 14 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) President Linda
Haslam-Stroud, RN will visit registered nurses in Ottawa tomorrow as Nursing
Week celebrations continue.
Haslam-Stroud will attend a Nursing Week Local 83 luncheon and visit with
ONA members at the Ottawa Hospital.
"This has been a challenging year for all our front-line members, as
nurses have borne the brunt of many budget cuts in the Ontario health-care
system," says Haslam-Stroud. "But during Nursing Week, the spotlight will be
on the valuable contributions that RNs make to the health-care system and the
patients who need the expertise of RNs on the front lines."
ONA is the union representing 54,000 registered nurses and allied health
professionals and more than 10,000 nursing students providing care in
hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics
and industry. ONA is celebrating 35 years of nursing advocacy - a proud past,
a powerful future.
