Media Advisory - Ontario Fairness Commissioner Jean Augustine to Speak at ETFO Annual Meeting

    TORONTO, Aug. 12 /CNW/ - Jean Augustine, Ontario's Fairness Commissioner,
is scheduled to speak to more than 500 elementary public school teachers
tomorrow at the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) annual
    Following Ms. Augustine's comments, ETFO President David Clegg will
present a cheque for $100,000 to York University to acknowledge the
federation's support of the 'Jean Augustine Chair in Education in the New
Urban Environment'.
    Named after Ms. Augustine, the first black woman elected to Canadian
Parliament, The Chair will study social justice and equity issues in Canadian
cities that shape student academic success. It will also contribute to
research and activities involving urban communities in areas such as education
policy and practice.
