Media advisory - NSSBA's 55th AGM to focus on culture and equity in education

    HALIFAX, May 8 /CNW/ - Celebrating Cultural Proficiency and Equity in
Education is the theme of the 55th annual general meeting and conference of
the Nova Scotia School Boards Association (NSSBA). Taking place Thursday, May
14, - Saturday, May 16, 2009, school board members and staff are invited to
take part in the informative three-day-event which includes guest speakers and
partnership sessions.
    Hosted by the Strait Regional School Board, the venue for the event will
be the Charles V. Keating Millennium Centre, St. Francis Xavier University.
    Two keynote speakers will address aspects of the conference theme. Dr.
Randall B. Lindsay, director, Doctorate Program at California Lutheran
University, will address the topic of "Understanding Cultural Proficiency and
Equity in Education." Dr. Jeff Off, director, School of Education, St. Francis
Xavier University, will discuss how universities and school boards can work
together for equity and excellence. The program is available on the NSSBA

    The NSSBA is the provincial voice for school boards.
