Media Advisory - New Laser Weapons May Blind, Breach International Law Obligations

    OTTAWA, Nov. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - The Rideau Institute will warn the
Government that the Canadian Forces' deployment of newly acquired laser
weapons could result in soldiers blinding combatants and civilians in
Afghanistan. The Canadian Forces may have not properly tested the weapons'
compliance with Canada's international legal obligations.
