Media Advisory - Museum of Inuit Art Director David Harris to meet Toronto Mayor David Miller on streets of Toronto - Feb 18th to celebrate reaching halfway mark in bid to cycle equivalent distance from Toronto to Iqaluit, NT

    HARBOURFRONT, TORONTO, Feb. 17 /CNW/ - Museum of Inuit Art Director and
Co-founder, David Harris, will join Toronto Mayor David Miller on February 18,
2009 at 1:15, in celebration of achieving the 1200 KM half-way point in
Harris's bid to ride the equivalent distance from Toronto, Ontario to Iqaluit,
Nunavut (2350 km as the crow flies). David Harris is cycling over two hours
daily in all weather conditions through the streets of Toronto from January 1
to April 1st, 2009. Mayor David Miller and David Harris will meet on February
18 at an appointed major intersection in downtown Toronto.
    The primary goal for David Harris's extreme ride is to kick start
Toronto's newest Museum's first Annual Membership Drive and to raise awareness
of this award-winning institution. This cycling event will culminate to
coincide with and commemorate the 10th anniversary of the founding of Nunavut
on April 1st, 2009.

    Founded in 2007, the Museum of Inuit Art (MIA) is a non-profit
Organization, and is southern Canada's only public museum devoted exclusively
to Inuit art. MIA's permanent exhibition, featuring hundreds of works of Inuit
art, is situated at the Toronto Harbourfront and has won a number of
architectural awards since its opening in the historic Queen's Quay Terminal
