TORONTO, Sept. 11 /CNW/ - Mondial Energy Inc. and WoodGreen Community
Housing are joined by NDP leader Jack Layton to unveil Ontario's largest, most
powerful solar thermal energy system.
Installed at WoodGreen's 170-unit social housing site at 1070 Queen St.
East, the custom-designed solar thermal energy system consists of 108 glazed
flat plate collectors. The collectors are expected to displace 32,362 cubic
meters of gas annually, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 61 tons per year.
Annual energy production of the system is expected at 201,961 ekWh and
will be used by WoodGreen to offset natural gas consumption for heating hot
water at 1070 Queen St. East.
