KAHNAWAKE, QC, June 27 /CNW Telbec/ - Some 250 delegates representing
Indigenous women from 17 countries in North, Central and South America will
gather in Kahnawake July 9 to 11, 2007, for the Fifth Continental Meeting of
Indigenous Women of the Americas.
Journalists are invited to participate in this meeting, which is
organized by the Continental Network of Indigenous Women of the Americas in
collaboration with Quebec Native Women Inc. and Rights & Democracy.
Conferences and plenary sessions will explore the theme "Restoring Our
Balance" through discussions on human rights and international legal
instruments, Indigenous women's health, violence in the three Americas,
intellectual property issues and entrepreneurship.
Key media opportunities include the opening ceremony at 1 p.m. on July 9
and the closing ceremony at 5 p.m. on July 11.
