OTTAWA, March 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Canadian media wishing to cover the Visa
Paralympic World Cup 2007 in Manchester, England from May 7-13 must submit
applications by Friday, April 6.
The week-long competition is the biggest annual multi-sport competition
for elite athletes with a disability in athletics, swimming, track cycling and
wheelchair basketball. The events will take place at the Manchester Velodrome,
the Manchester Aquatics Centre and the Manchester Regional Arena.
Last year, 340 athletes from 40 countries participated in the event, now
in its third year. Canada won five medals in 2006: one gold, three silver and
one bronze. The Canadian men's basketball team took the gold in front of a
packed crowd at Manchester Velodrome. Canada was also represented by five
swimmers, including multiple Paralympic gold medalist Stephanie Dixon, and
seven athletes in athletics. No Canadian cyclists were invited by the
organizers last year.

Letter of Authentication
Canadian media applying for accreditation for the Visa Paralympic World
Cup will require a letter of authentication from the Canadian Paralympic
Committee to verify their status as a journalist or photographer with an
interest in elite disability sport. Requests for the letter and the official

Deadline for media accreditation applications: April 6, 2007
Confirmation sent via email from event organizer: Monday, April 16.
Media accreditation available for pickup at Marriot Hotel Media
Operations Centre in Manchester: Sunday, May 6 to Sunday, May 13.
The event headquarters are located at the Marriott Victoria and Albert
Hotel (Water Street) in Manchester City Centre. Accommodation at this hotel is

Event Specific Media Areas
Media work areas will be available with access to fax and photocopying
facilities. A limited number of phone lines will be available for use. Media
