Media Advisory - Lieutenant Governor hosts New Year's Levee

    TORONTO, Dec. 28 /CNW/ - The Hon. David C. Onley invites Ontarians to the
Lieutenant Governor's New Year's Levee, to be held at Queen's Park on Tuesday,
1 January, 2008 from 12 noon until 2:00 PM.
    A tradition in Canada since 1646, the Levee is a special opportunity to
meet The Queen's representative and enjoy festive family entertainment and
refreshments. Everyone is welcome!

    WHAT     The Lieutenant Governor's New Year's Levee

    WHO      The Hon. David C. Onley & Her Honour Mrs. Ruth Ann Onley
             Red Spirit Dancers, Aboriginal drum and dance group
             Oplenac Music Ensemble, Serbian song and dance ensemble
             Bialy Orzel, Polish song and dance ensemble
             The Gypsy (ROMA) Flame Show Band, gypsy (ROMA) song and
             dance ensemble
             Mr. Christopher Welsh, deaf mime artist

    WHERE    Legislative Building, Queen's Park, Toronto

    WHEN     Tuesday, 1 January, 2008, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm

    The levee also launches the Lieutenant Governor's 2008 Book Drive. In the
tradition of former Lieutenant Governor James Bartleman, His Honour will be
collecting only new children's books for aboriginal youth in northern
Ontario's fly-in First Nation communities. The Book Drive will continue
through 18 January 2008. New books can be dropped off at any Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) detachment throughout the province or at any Toronto
Police Services station within the Greater Toronto Area.
