Media Advisory - Leader of the Official Opposition to Address Delegates at Federation of Canadian Municipalities' 72nd Annual Conference and Municipal Expo(TM)

    WHISTLER, B.C, June 7 /CNW Telbec/ - Michael Ignatieff, M.P., Leader of
the Liberal Party of Canada, will address delegates at the Federation of
Canadian Municipalities' (FCM) 72nd Annual Conference and Municipal Expo(TM)
in Whistler, B.C., today at 8:30 a.m.
    Following the plenary address, Ignatieff and FCM President Jean Perrault,
Mayor of Sherbrooke, Que., will take questions from the media at 9:30 a.m. The
question and answer session will be accessible to media onsite and via
    Ignatieff's plenary address will take place in the Sea to Sky Ballroom of
the TELUS Whistler Conference Centre (TWCC) and the media availability will
take place in the Wedgemount Room of the TWCC.
    At 7 a.m., FCM's Standing Committee on Increasing Women's Participation
in Municipal Government will host a breakfast fundraising event in support of
the Mayor Andrée Boucher Memorial Scholarship. Councillor Pam McConnell will
take media questions following the event at 8:20 a.m., in the Alpine Ballroom
of the Westin Hotel.
    Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada, will deliver a
plenary address today at 11:45 a.m., in the Sea to Sky Ballroom of the TWCC,
and will be available at 12:45 p.m. in the Wedgemount Room of the TWCC.
    Delegates will end the day with a plenary address by Jean Lemire,
biologist, adventurer, environmental film director/producer. Lemire was the
expedition leader on a research voyage from Canada's Magdalen Islands to the
Antarctic from September 2005 to November 2006 aboard the SEDNA IV. His
acclaimed productions - including his five-part Arctic Mission, which aired on
David Suzuki's "The Nature of Things," Radio-Canada and Télé-Québec - aimed to
raise public awareness about global environmental challenges.
