TORONTO, April 9 /CNW/ - WHAT: Law Day 2009 will bring students from across Ontario together with the Ontario Bar Association to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Law Day is an annual event that brings students, lawyers, judges, educators and the public together to participate in a variety of events and activities. This year Law Day officially falls on Thursday, April 16th, with events taking place April 14th - 29th. The various programs provide an opportunity for the legal community to inform the public about the vital role of the rule of law and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in guaranteeing an open, independent and unbiased judicial system. In 2008, approximately 13,000 students and legal professionals participated in Law Day activities.
