Media Advisory - Law Commission of Ontario Hosts Public Lecture and Symposium

    TORONTO, May 11 /CNW/ - On Tuesday, May 12, and Wednesday, May 13, the
Law Commission of Ontario will host its first Public Lecture and Symposium.
The Public Lecture features guest speaker, Michael Tilbury, Commissioner with
the New South Wales Law Reform Commission. Chief Justice of Ontario, the
Honourable Warren Winkler will attend.

    The following day Wednesday, May 13, 2009, the LCO hosts its first
Symposium: "Conversations About Law Reform" at the Faculty of Law, University
of Toronto.

    Panelists include:
    Raj Anand (Chair, Human Rights Legal Support Centre),
    Harry Arthurs (University Professor Emeritus, York University),
    Avvy Go (Clinic Director, Metro Toronto Chinese & Southeast Asian Legal
    Clinic & Co-Organizer of the "Colour of Poverty Campaign"),
    John Gregory (Counsel, Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General),
    Michele Leering (Executive Director, Community Advocacy & Legal Centre,
    David Lepofsky (Chair, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act
    Rod Macdonald (F.R. Scott Chair in Public and Constitutional Law, Faculty
    of Law, McGill University),
    Kim Murray (Executive Director, Aboriginal Legal Services of Toronto) and
    Michael Tilbury (Commissioner, NSW Law Reform Commission).

    The facilitators are Professor Lorne Sossin (Academic Director, Centre for
the Legal Profession) and Patricia Hughes (Executive Director, Law Commission
of Ontario).
