Media Advisory - Journalism Award Deadline Fast Approaching

    TORONTO, Jan. 12 /CNW/ - The application deadline for the 2009 IAPA Russ
Ramsay Media Awards for Excellence in Health and Safety Reporting is Tuesday,
February 3, 2009.
    IAPA (Industrial Accident Prevention Association) invites all Ontario
trade and consumer media - print (newspapers or magazines), radio, and
television - distributed and broadcast in Ontario, to submit work that
enhanced the understanding and awareness of workplace health and safety in
Ontario during the 2008 calendar year. This is the second year of the award,
which honours outstanding journalism.
    Entry categories include:

    -  Trade Media:
       -  Excellence in print feature reporting

    -  Consumer Media
       -  Excellence in print feature reporting (newspapers and magazines)
       -  Excellence in radio feature reporting
       -  Excellence in television feature reporting

    There is no fee for entering. All entries will be judged by a panel
comprised of media professionals and IAPA staff and will be evaluated based on
how well the issue of workplace health and safety is covered, the quality of
story delivery, and how in-depth and accurate the coverage is on the issue.

    Journalists are urged to take advantage of the opportunity to have their
work recognized on a national stage. The IAPA Russ Ramsay Media Awards for
Excellence in Health and Safety Reporting are presented annually at IAPA's
national conference and trade show, Health & Safety Canada - the largest event
of its kind in Canada, attracting over 6,000 delegates, health and safety
professionals, and media. This year's presentation will occur at the Metro
Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario during the conference dates of
April 20 - 22, 2009.
