Media Advisory - GTTA takes first steps to better transportation system at launch event

    TORONTO, Nov. 30 /CNW/ - The Minister of Transportation Jim Bradley and
Rob MacIsaac, Chair of the Greater Toronto Transportation Authority (GTTA),
will be available to meet with the media immediately prior to a major
presentation sponsored by the Canadian Urban Institute.

    Media are also invited to attend the luncheon presentation, in the same
    location, beginning at 12:00 noon. The presentation will include:

    -   Details on the first steps in developing a comprehensive Regional
        Transportation Plan, to be completed by next fall;
    -   Release of a discussion paper on transportation trends and outlooks,
        the first of a series of Green Papers to guide the consultations;
    -   Launch of extensive public consultations;
    -   Launch of a new, interactive website; and
    -   Launch of a new name for the GTTA to better reflect its mandate and

    Other members of the GTTA Board will be available. They include
University of Toronto Planning School Professor and former Chief City of
Toronto Planner Paul Bedford, Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger, York Region
Chair Bill Fisch, TTC Chair Adam Giambrone, and GO Transit Chair Peter Smith,
who is also Vice-Chair of the GTTA.

    The GTTA is an agency of the Government of Ontario. Its mandate is to
create a seamless and sustainable transportation system for the residents and
businesses of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
