PRINCE RUPERT, BC, Sept. 11 /CNW Telbec/ - The Port of Prince Rupert is
holding its grand opening celebration to mark the completion of the Fairview
Container Terminal. Working with its partners, the Government of Canada, the
Province of British Columbia, CN Rail and Maher Terminals, the Port of Prince
Rupert is anchoring North America's new strategic gateway, a high-speed,
congestion-free corridor to support trans-Pacific trade.
Over 500 dignitaries from around the world will be present as part of the
official opening ceremony, including: The Hon. David Emerson, Minister of
International Trade and Minister for the Pacific Gateway and the
Vancouver-Whistler Olympics; the Hon. Rona Ambrose, President of the Queen's
Privy Council, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of Western
Economic Diversification; The Hon. Gordon Campbell, Premier of British
Columbia; The Hon. Kevin Falcon, B.C. Minister of Transportation; Don Krusel,
President and Chief Executive Officer, Prince Rupert Port Authority;
James M. Foote, CN Executive Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, CN Rail; and
Brian Maher, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Maher Terminals Inc.
