Media Advisory - First National Conference: Unlocking Aboriginal potential in the workplace

April 3-5, 2007, Fairmont Château Laurier, Ottawa

    OTTAWA, March 30 /CNW/ -

The Aboriginal Human Resource Development Council of Canada (AHRDCC) is
presenting its first national Aboriginal recruitment, retention and
advancement conference. The conference will build understanding in Canada
about the complexities that impact Aboriginal employment issues. Presentations
and discussion will probe into why Aboriginal unemployment rates are high, why
Aboriginal people leave their jobs, the challenges employers face, what can be
done to better prepare, mobilize and advance a stronger Aboriginal workforce,
and more.

The conference hosts an influential and dynamic lineup of top-flight
executives and front-line workers who are helping to pave a path of Aboriginal
inclusion in Canada. Keynote and breakout sessions will help organizations
build and improve labour market strategies that will accelerate Aboriginal
employment opportunities, career development solutions and workplace
engagement strategies.
