VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, April 12 /CNW Telbec/ - Valcartier soldiers will
conduct their last extensive exercise in May 2007 before deploying to
Afghanistan this summer. Media representatives are invited to participate to
this exercise that will take place in Wainwright (Alberta).
After concluding training in Fort Bliss (Texas) last February, 2500
soldiers from Valcartier will start the last phase to attain the complete
operational level needed for their deployment in Afghanistan in August 2007.
Media are invited to the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Center (CMTC),
located on Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, during the following dates:
- From 9 to 12 May 2007
- From 21 to 24 May 2007
During this exercise, soldiers will participate in various scenarios,
including convoy escort, support duties and combat and security operations.
For instance, they will carry out live firing using infantry, armored, and
artillery weapons, by day and night.
CMTC is a national training center that plans and executes training in a
contemporary operational environment. CMTC has weapons effect simulation
technology and urban infrastructure built especially for training.
Media representatives that want to cover the military exercise that will
take place at CMTC or that wish to obtain specific details to take a decision

Note: This invitation is sent to allow all interested media to do
necessary preparations in order to cover the exercise and offer the
opportunity to all in response to the multiple media requests. The majority of
soldiers involved in the exercise are francophones.
