Media advisory - CUPE National President Paul Moist to lead 'Respect and Fairness' rally for striking Kawartha Lakes workers Friday

    LINDSAY, ON, Feb. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - CUPE National President Paul Moist
will lead a solidarity rally for striking City of Kawartha Lakes workers on
Friday, February 15, at 12:00 noon, to support Local 855 CUPE members and
highlight the City's lack of respect and fairness for the 400 striking
municipal workers.
    "Public services build strong communities," said Moist. "By contracting
out public services and targeting different groups of workers, City management
is going in the wrong direction."

    The 400 municipal workers have been on strike since Monday, February 4.
"We are committed to protecting public services and achieving fairness for all
workers," said Moist. "CUPE and our 570,000 members across Canada will support
Local 855 in this struggle, for as long as it takes."
