Media Advisory - Community Living Toronto Celebrates Its Diamond Year: Annual General Meeting Kicks Off The Organization's Celebration of The Last Sixty Years

    TORONTO, Sept. 9 /CNW/ - A number of Community Living Toronto staff,
individuals supported, their families, as well as a number of dignitaries will
come together today at the organization's Annual General Meeting and celebrate
its 60th Anniversary.

    In addition to a special presentation and greetings from community
partners and members, Community Living Toronto will also award the 10th annual
Inclusive Education Awards to a number of Teachers, Educational Assistants and
Principals in Toronto for their incredible work in promoting inclusiveness in
their school communities.
    This year we are presenting awards to Juliana Baclija at Portage Trail
Community Junior School and Mercedes Alvares from St. Helen's Elementary
    We will also recognize the special contributions of the Toronto District
School Board for their continued vision of inclusion of all children. We are
specifically grateful for the support of Karen Gravitis, who is Executive
Superintendent and Karen Forbes, who is the System Superintendent with Special
Education. They have both worked closely with Community Living Toronto staff,
members, Board and families to facilitate inclusion for all students.
    The Annual General Meeting will be followed by a reception.
    The Annual General Meeting will kick off the organization's celebration
of its 60th Anniversary. Community Rocks, a gala event at The Carlu on
November 2nd.

    Currently celebrating its 60th year, Community Living Toronto has been a
source of support for thousands of individuals with intellectual disabilities
and their families searching for accessible and meaningful, community-based
lifestyles. We strive to change the lives of people with an intellectual
disability by giving them a voice and supporting their choices where they
live, learn, work and play.
