MONTREAL, Sept. 12 /CNW Telbec/ - Tomorrow, Thursday, September 13, 2007,
Dawson College will mark the one-year anniversary of the shooting.
A media conference will be held at 1 p.m. on the northwest corner of the
campus. A tree will be planted in memory of Anastasia De Sousa, and a series
of announcements will be made by the College regarding new initiatives and by
the government of Quebec regarding contributions to Dawson's recovery.
This area will be accessible only from 3040 Sherbrooke Street West.
Radio-Canada (contact David Lefrançois at 514 597-3540) will provide the
live television pool feed. No other cameras (television or photographic) will
be allowed in the building. The College requests that all other reporting,
radio or print, be done discreetly and in consideration of the students,
faculty and staff of Dawson.
The commemorations will begin at 12:25 p.m. with a lone female voice,
Dawson graduate Meaghan Blake singing a capella, to signal the start of
proceedings. The music selection was made by Louise De Sousa; Meaghan's voice
represents the voice Dawson lost.
Short addresses by Charles Brenchley, President of the Dawson Student
Union, and Richard Filion, Director General of Dawson College, will launch
into the moment of silence at 12:41 p.m.
Police have issued their own directives regarding parking and traffic.
Due to the volume of telephone calls being received, it has become very
difficult to deal with any more media requests. Thank you for your
