Media Advisory - City to honour recipients of Green Toronto Awards

    TORONTO, April 26 /CNW/ - Mayor David Miller and Deputy Mayor Joe
Pantalone will host the City of Toronto's third annual Green Toronto Awards
ceremony on May 1. The 2007 Green Toronto Awards program, which honours local
environmental efforts and achievements, received 178 nominations. A panel of
judges selected three organizations or individuals as the finalists in each of
the 10 award categories.
    The judges have chosen a winner in each category, to be announced Tuesday
evening at the ceremony. The 10 winners of Green Toronto Awards will each
receive $5,000 to donate to the environmental organization of their choice,
contributed by the award sponsors. In addition, an internal City environmental
group or program will be recognized for excellence. Special guest Molly
Johnson, a popular Toronto singer, will sing two songs at the event.
