Media Advisory - Carleton University staff to hold information picket Tuesday, September 4th

    OTTAWA, Sept. 3 /CNW Telbec/ - An information picket by members of CUPE
2424, representing 700 Carleton University professional, office, technical and
support staff, will be held from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, on Tuesday, September 4,
at the Bronson Avenue and Colonel By entrances to Carleton University. The
workers face a strike or lockout Wednesday, if an agreement cannot be reached
in mediation.
    "We are doing our best to reach a settlement in mediation talks, but
things are moving very slowly," said Susan Arab, CUPE national representative.
Mediation talks are scheduled to continue today and tomorrow, September 4. The
workers will be in a legal strike or lockout position at 12:01 am, Wednesday,
September 5.
