BRAMPTON, ON, Sept. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - The Brampton Health Coalition
announces its participation in major cross-province protests on health care.
The coalition will unveil visual models they will be using in the Sept. 27
"We are protesting several McGuinty government initiatives that harm
Bramptonians. The McGuinty government is forcing major cuts to hospital
services, in the deepest public service cuts since the Mike Harris government.
Already services from Etobicoke have been moved to Brampton putting more
pressure on our overstretched P3 hospital," Brampton Health Coalition member
and Ontario Health Coalition chair Dora Jeffires.
"McGuinty has broken his promise to bring in care standards to improve
levels of care in nursing homes. Recent inspection reports show serious
problems in many of Brampton's nursing homes, but McGuinty has turned a deaf
ear to all appeals to redevelop the Peel Memorial Hospital and expand our
hospital services and to improve care levels in our nursing homes," said
Brampton Health Coalition labour co-chair Eugene Feltham.
The Ontario Health Coalition has called for major protests across
Ontario. Several hundred Bramptonians will be getting on buses on Saturday,
Sept. 27. Details will be released at the media conference.
