VANCOUVER, Feb. 26 /CNW/ - Representatives of the Canadian Federation of
Students will be available for comment following the release of the federal
budget the afternoon of Tuesday, February 26, 2008.
Tuition fees in British Columbia have doubled over the past seven years,
saddling students and their families with an average debt of $27,000 upon
graduation. Students have lobbied the federal government to replace the
Millennium Scholarship Foundation with a national needs-based grants program
to reduce student debt.
The Canadian Federation of Students is composed of 150,000 students in
British Columbia from 19 university and college students' unions.
