Media advisory - Barnum House opens for the summer with Waddington's auction on June 9

    Event:             On opening day at Barnum House, Waddington's Brighton
                       is hosting a fundraising auction to support
                       programming at the site. The auction will take place
                       on the grounds of the house. The viewing begins at
                       9 a.m., followed by the auction at 11 a.m.

    Barnum House is opening for the 2007 summer season. This National
Historic Site - the former home of Eliakim Barnum, a prominent member of the
community in the early 1800s - is one of Ontario's finest examples of
neo-classical architecture.
    The site will be open from June 9 to August 31, Wednesday to Sunday,
10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including Canada Day and the Civic Holiday.

    Barnum House is owned and operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, the
province's lead heritage agency. The Trust is dedicated to identifying,
preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario's built, cultural and natural
heritage for the benefit of present and future generations.
