Media Advisory - Autoplan brokers to launch back to school road safety campaign

VANCOUVER, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - Local Autoplan brokers are doing their part to
help children get to and from school safely this fall by sponsoring a sign
campaign designed to draw attention to the importance of pedestrian safety.
As part of their involvement in the Autoplan Broker Road Safety Program
(ABRSP), which works to educate the public about critical road safety issues,
brokers sent 10,400 bright yellow signs reminding drivers to "SLOW DOWN,
School Zone" to 1,300 elementary schools across BC. The highly visible signs
remind drivers that come the first week of September; the school zone speed
limit of 30 km/h between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on school days is back in effect.
The SpeedWatch program will be out in full force to watch out for
speeders and Armstrong's student crossing guards will be out to make sure
their fellow students cross safely.
Representatives of the ABRSP will join the Mayor of Burnaby - Derek
Corrigan, Autoplan Broker Greg Gilding, School Trustee - Diana Mumford, and
