announcement by the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) on a
major industry investment into development of an innovative training program
to address the critical need for more aviation trades workers in Saskatchewan
and Canada.

    Background: Aerospace and defence companies around the world understand
the need to meet the growing demand for skilled aircraft maintenance engineers
and other aviation trades workers and the importance of training the
next-generation aviation workforce.
    Leading international companies have chosen to help address this need
with major investments in SIIT training programs, to develop First Nations
youth as an integral part of the aviation workforce of the future.
    Participants include: His Honour the Honourable Dr. Gordon L. Barnhart,
Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan; Saskatchewan's Enterprise and Innovation
Minister Lyle Stewart; and, representatives from the investing companies; the
federal government; the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations; the
Saskatchewan Aviation Council, SIIT and invited guests.
