Media advisory - Amendment - Her Majesty's Canadian Ship Charlottetown visits Montreal

    HALIFAX, Sept. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - The Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Steve
Waddell and the ship's company of Her Majesty's Canadian Ship (HMCS)
Charlottetown are pleased to announce that the ship and her crew will be
visiting the city of Montreal from 5 to 8 September 2008. The ship will arrive
at the Old Port at 3 p.m. on September 5th, and will berth at Pier 12
(Alexandra Basin) and will be leaving at 8 a.m. the morning of September 8th.
HMCS Charlottetown will then be heading to Cleveland.

    The following events will take place during the ship's visit in Montreal
    (all visitors to the ship must have photo ID):

    Friday 5 September:

    3 p.m. - Arrival of ship at Pier 12 (Alexandra Basin).

    Saturday 6 September:

    10 a.m. - Enrolment Ceremony of new members of the Canadian Forces in the
    presence of the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Walter Natynczky.
    (After the ceremony, General Natynczyk will be available to answer
    questions from the media.);
    1 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Ship open to visitors, recruitment kiosk and military

    Sunday 7 September:

    9:30 a.m. - Swearing Ceremony of new Canadian citizens onboard the ship;
    10 a.m. - Sports game
    8:30 - 4 p.m.   - Crew members work with Habitat for Humanity
    10 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Old Brewery Mission Charity
    1 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Ship open to visitors, recruitment kiosk and military

    Monday 8 September:

    7 a.m. - Guests embark for day sail;
    8 a.m. - Ship departs Montreal;
    9:30 - Guests disembark at Ste. Catherine's Lock

    - HMCS Charlottetown is a Halifax class frigate designed and built in
      Canada. Charlottetown is the tenth of twelve frigates built.
    - A modern and well-equipped vessel, these ships are designed to act
      independently or as part of a larger force.
