Media Advisory - Actuarial Standards Oversight Council holds its first ever annual public meeting

    OTTAWA, Dec. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - John Solursh, Chairperson of the Actuarial
Standards Oversight Council (ASOC), is pleased to invite the media to attend
ASOC's first ever annual public meeting.
    The Actuarial Standards Board (ASB) has recently been established by the
Canadian Institute of Actuaries as an independent body with the authority and
responsibility for establishing actuarial standards of practice. ASOC was
established to serve the public interest by overseeing and providing input to
the activities of the ASB. The ASOC is composed of seasoned professionals and
business people with experience in the financial sector.
    Mr. Solursh will describe the role of ASOC and its work plan for the next
year. Also, Mr. Geoff Guy, Chair of the ASB, will provide an overview of the
ASB and its work plan. In addition, there will be an opportunity for you to
ask questions about ASOC, the ASB and the actuarial standards of practice
setting process and related plans.
