Media Advisory - AbitibiBowater pension decision tomorrow

    MONTREAL, May 6 /CNW Telbec/ - The president of Canada's largest forest
union will be present tomorrow, May 7, 2009, to react to the ruling from the
Quebec Superior Court on AbitibiBowater's motion that it be allowed to suspend
pension payments towards it unfunded liabilities.
"If the motion is allowed, AbitibiBowater's pool of debt will just
continue to grow, threatening the pensions of all current and future
retirees," says Dave Coles, president of the Communications, Energy and
Paperworkers Union of Canada. "There are many worried forestry workers out
there, but workers from other sectors should be very concerned too," he says.
"If the company is allowed to shirk this responsibility to its workforce,
the precedent will be set."

CEP represents about 60,000 forestry workers across Canada, 8,000 at
