Media Advisory - A live presentation of the slideshow, focusing on Ontario and Canada, Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth comes to Kortright

    VAUGHAN, ON, Sept. 21 /CNW/ -

WHAT: Victoria Serda is a town councillor in Saugeen Shores,
founder of the local environmental group Green Horizons,
Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Ontario, and a volunteer
presenter for the Climate Project. She has been trained by
Al Gore to give his slideshow presentation in Ontario, and
she will be giving a 60 minute presentation with some
information about the effects of climate change in Ontario,
and her daughter Corrina, who is 11, will give a short
presentation with some practical solutions about what each
of us can do to help. With the environment being the No. 1
Canadian concern in the polls, we all have the opportunity
to turn this climate crisis around when we do our part, work
together and rise to the challenge.

WHAT ELSE: Feature Presentation: The Ontario Solar Initiative presented
                 by Paul Gipe

Paul Gipe has written extensively about wind energy for both
the popular and trade press. He has lectured widely in
Europe, North America and the South Pacific on wind energy
and how to minimize its impact on the environment and the
communities of which it is a part. In 1998 the
World Renewable Energy Congress designated Gipe a "pioneer
in renewable energy," one of the group's highest honors.
Also, he is credited as the principal architect of
Ontario's Standard Offer Program, what some have called the
most progressive renewable energy policy development in
                 North America in two decades.

Paul Gipe will be giving a lecture describing how we can use
Ontario's pioneering Standard Offer Program to create an
initiative that will rival the California Solar Initiate.
The Standard offer program will need to be bolstered to meet
this challenge, Paul will outline the costs and benefits of
an initiative that would see 400,000 rooftop solar systems
                 in Ontario by 2017.
