Media advisory - A first in Canada - Smoke-Free Day at Ottawa's SuperEX



    OTTAWA, Aug. 23 /CNW Telbec/ - For the first time in Canada, a major fair
or exhibition has declared their premises smoke-free for a day. The City of
Ottawa Public Health's exposé program has partnered with SuperEX to create a
day where people are asked not to smoke at the exhibition, promoting a
smoke-free lifestyle for a healthy future.

    
    Date:     Saturday, August 25, 2007

    Time:     1 to 2 p.m.
              1:05 p.m. - Speeches begin. Councillor Diane Deans, Chair of
              the Community and Protective Services Committee and Dr. Isra
              Levy, Associate Medical Officer of Health, Ottawa Public
              Health, speak.
              1:25 to 2 p.m. - Performances by the FootSouldiers, a
              break-dancing group, and Slam Poet, Nathaniel Larochette.

    Location: Giant Tiger Stage, Lansdowne Park, 1015 Bank Street
    

    Councillor Deans and Dr. Levy will be available for interviews after the
speaking portion of the event.
