Mechtronix subcontracts with Indra to manufacture flight training device for Government of Spain

Acquisition of Bombardier 415 FTD for Specialized Fire Fighting Aircraft
will enable Spain to Prepare Pilots for its Growing Fleet

    MONTREAL, Oct. 23 /CNW Telbec/ - Mechtronix Systems Inc. (MSI), a
division of Mechtronix World Corp., the fastest growing and third leading
provider of flight training equipment in the world, today announced that it
had reached an agreement to serve as a subcontractor to Spain's Indra in the
manufacture of a Bombardier 415 FTD for the Government of Spain, Ministry of
Defense. The flight training device will be the second of its type in the
world, the first having been produced by Mechtronix. The new unit will enable
the Spanish MoD to effectively double its capabilities to train pilots and add
to their optimal proficiency in a fast growing fleet of aircraft that is
dedicated to fighting forest fires.
Importantly, the purchase and final deployment of the CL 415 FTD will
also enable the operator to use the device for a regular regime of convenient
and continuous flight training that will provide pilots with the enhanced
skills needed to operate this aircraft safely when it is deployed regularly in
the most challenging of operational environments. Pilots that normally operate
in a low flight hour environment will now be able to optimize their flying and
fire fighting expertise and save flight hours while they practice their craft
in a realistic but safer and forgiving virtual setting.
"We selected Mechtronix to work with us to produce this flight training
device based on their past performance in developing a unique and essential
one of a kind device that performs in the most challenging scenarios," said,
Armel Garcia Durand, Indra's director of Procurement. "Normally, flying and
fire fighting are two very unforgiving disciplines by themselves, but when you
combine them, there are no margins for error and that is why we picked
Mechtronix. We respect their penchant for robust quality and reliability."
"We are very pleased to collaborate with Indra to produce a device that
performs an invaluable function for an essential task that saves lives in more
ways than one", said Xavier Hervé' president of Mechtronix. "We know that the
Government of Spain is also very particular about what it buys and the
cooperation with Spanish-based manufacturer Indra enables the device to be
fully tailored to the Spanish operations. We look forward to maintaining a
long and successful relationship with the Government of Spain and Indra
Sistemas for years to come".
