Mecachrome wins a US$45 million contract on the BR725 engine, powering the new Gulfstream G650

    MONTREAL, March 18 /CNW Telbec/ - Mecachrome International (TSX : MCH)
announced today that it has signed a contract with Rolls-Royce to provide, on
an exclusive basis, the manufacture and assembly of the rear bearing support
structure ("RBSS") and the intermediary casing ("IMC") of the BR725 engine.
Mecachrome's contract on the BR725 is estimated at US$45 million over the life
of the program. The Rolls-Royce BR725 will be the exclusive powerplant for
Gulfstream's new flagship corporate jet, the G650.
    The G650 offers the longest range, fastest speed, largest cabin and the
most-advanced cockpit in the Gulfstream fleet. Gulfstream expects to begin
G650 customer deliveries in 2012. Based on the aircraft development schedule,
the company projects it will receive Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
Type Certification and validation by the European Aviation Safety Authority
(EASA) in 2011. First flight of the aircraft is scheduled for the second half
of 2009.
