TORONTO, Feb. 24 /CNW/ - Mike Richmond, a respected lawyer specializing
in Energy Law, Emissions Trading and Climate Change, and Government Relations
is in a good position to comment on and critique the Ontario Government's
Green Energy Act, released yesterday.
The legislation is complex and controversial and before joining McMillan
LLP, Mike Richmond spent two years as a Senior Energy Policy Advisor to the
Minister of Energy in 2001-2002, responsible for overseeing the restructuring
of Ontario's electricity markets. He was also responsible for the creation of
an emissions trading framework and the selection of a market opening date. In
addition, as acting press secretary, Mike was the primary media contact for
the Government of Ontario on the issue of electricity restructuring and
conducted interviews for publications and broadcast stations from across
Canada and the US.
Yesterday, the Ontario Government released the Green Energy Act, which it
is billing as its centerpiece for economic recovery and the most significant
part of their job creation and economic stimulus package.
