McGuinty Government Makes It Easier For Ontarians To Access Government Services

ServiceOntario Brings Convenient Access To Downtown Toronto

TORONTO, Sept. 7 /CNW/ - The McGuinty government is making it easier to
renew a drivers' licence, get a new health card or buy a fishing permit by
opening a new ServiceOntario location in downtown Toronto to provide Ontario
families with convenient one-stop access to the full range of government
services, Government Services Minister Gerry Phillips announced today.
"ServiceOntario is making it easier for Ontario families to spend less
time filling out paperwork and more time doing what is important to them,"
said Phillips. "The days when accessing different government services meant
going one place for a health card and another for a drivers' licence are over
for downtown Toronto residents. In an age where goods and services can be
purchased around the clock, where business deals are completed in seconds
online, people rightly expect the same level of service from their government
- ServiceOntario is delivering."
The new ServiceOntario-College Park is located at 777 Bay Street in
Toronto and serves over 1,000 people a day. It provides easy access to a full
range of provincial government services, including birth, marriage or death
certificates, business registrations, fish and wildlife licences, drivers'
licences, vehicle permits, health cards, change of name and address - and
"Torontonians who live and work downtown lead busy lives and need
convenient access to government services," said Minister of Health and
Long-Term Care George Smitherman. "We're delivering with
ServiceOntario-College Park, conveniently located right on the subway line at
College station and offering immediate access to a wide range of government

guarantees for services offered through ServiceOntario: 15-business-
day service guarantees for birth, marriage, and death certificates,
and a two-day money-back guarantee for companies and individuals that
apply for an electronic Master Business Licence (eMBL).

"The people of Toronto are in the driver's seat when it comes to easy
access to Ministry of Transportation services at ServiceOntario-College Park,"
said Transportation Minister Donna Cansfield. "This one-stop location makes it
easier for Torontonians to get drivers licenses and vehicle permits easily and
The new service centre is an important part of the government's efforts
to integrate services and improve access for families and businesses,
providing them with the best service delivery experience possible.

Street as well as the Ontario Government Bookstore (Publications Ontario) at
