MONTREAL, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - McGill University Non-Academic Certified
Association (MUNACA) informs the media that it will hold a special general
assembly on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at noon in room 132 of the Leacock
Building on McGill University main campus. At the assembly, members will be
asked to decide on the University's last offer and on the future of
negotiations. The union's Executive recommends to reject the University's
offer. The members will be asked to give the executive a mandate to use
appropriate pressure tactics up to an unrestricted general strike if an
agreement is not reached before September 1, 2008.
Although the meeting is a closed meeting, media will be authorized to
film and photograph at the beginning of the meeting.
Mrs. Maria Ruocco, MUNACA's president, will meet the press right after
the meeting's closure to disclose the results. She will also be available for
interviews later on.
