May La Fête begin!

MONTREAL, Aug. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - La Fête des enfants de Montréal is
moving to Parc Jean-Drapeau this weekend! This summer event for families was
officially launched this morning in the presence of Mme Yolande James,
Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities and Deputy of Nelligan,
Mr. Marcel Tremblay, the person in charge of citizen services, youth and
intercultural relations for the Ville de Montréal, Mr. Serge Rémillard,
president of the board of directors of the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau,
Mr. André Harvey, Claude Trudel's Assistant, president of the board of
directors of the Société de transport de Montréal, and Mr. François-Etienne
Paré, La Fête's spokesperson for the third straight year.
Mr. Rémillard confirmed "how happy and proud the Société du parc
Jean-Drapeau is to welcome the event this year." For his part, Mr. Tremblay
took the opportunity to point out that "La Fête des enfants de Montréal
continues, year after year, to reflect the metropolis' rich diversity and to
reinforce citizens' sense of belonging to Montréal, this large cosmopolitan
city."

    Free offerings

La Fête des enfants is free! It's the ideal opportunity for parents and
their children to take full advantage of the wide range of highly imaginative,
entertaining activities available. Pick up La Fête's family pass in one of
participating Jean Coutu pharmacies of the greater Montréal! It gives you free
access to public transport to get to Parc Jean-Drapeau, thanks to the
participation of the STM - La Fête's official carrier - as well as free access
to three of Montréal's Muséums Nature: the Biodôme, Insectarium and Botanical
garden.
The move also signifies a number of new, free attractions! Everyone can
access the Ile Sainte-Hélène aquatic complex, as well as the installations of
its island partners, the Biosphère and Stewart Museum. The playground is
getting bigger!
To make their visit even more pleasant, families are offered a number of
services: baby-stroller parking areas, a baby-changing tent, bottle warmers,
and cooler checkrooms. Free inciting parkings, located close to the Namur,
Radisson, Montmorency and Longueuil-Université-de-Sherbrooke metro stations
also make it possible for motorists to avoid the traffic congestions and get
to La Fête easily by public transport.

La Fête des enfants de Montréal's exciting contest

La Fête des enfants de Montréal contest gives participants a chance to
win many prizes. The grand prize, a family trip by deluxe coach to Pittsburgh
to see the Tricolore take on Sidney and his gang, includes one overnight hotel
stay and $400 spending money, courtesy of Les Sportifs en voyage. Two laptops
also figure on the list of prizes, one offered by Lenovo and the other by IBM.
Then there are five "ready to camp" packages in one of Québec's national parks
and $100 in gift certificates offered by the Société des établissements de
plein air du Québec (SEPAQ), twenty $50 gift certificates for use at
Jean-Coutu pharmacies as well as a stay on a farm for a family of four offered
courtesy of the Union des producteurs agricoles. To enter the contest, simply
drop by one of the three Bell Info-Fête booths and fill out the entry form
during La Fête des enfants de Montréal at Parc Jean-Drapeau on August 18 and
19.
Come enjoy the two days of La Fête by taking advantage of a sweet deal at
one of 23 participating Montréal hotels, and receive a gift, while benefiting
from a third night at half price. For reservations, call 1-866-995-6994 or log

Safety is serious, even while having fun

Since its beginnings in 1999, the organizers of La Fête des enfants de
Montréal have safety at heart. Specialized services for lost children, police
presence, private security agency, screening and training of volunteers are
part of the process set up to ensure that children and their family have fun
in full safety.
