Marathon Drilling Expands W Horizon, 4.08g/t PGM and Au over 4 m

TORONTO, July 7 /CNW/ - Marathon PGM Corporation ("Marathon" or "the
Company", MAR-TSX) is pleased to announce the latest results from drilling of
the W horizon at the Marathon Project, near Marathon, Ontario.

    - hole M-08-447 intersected 2.19g/t PGM and Au over 10m (from 84-94m)
    - holes define western margin of W horizon
    - the W horizon remains open down dip to the west and now has a
        north-south strike length of 1,200m
    - drilling is providing information for upcoming resource calculation

David Good, VP of Exploration noted, "These holes confirm the W horizon is
still open to the west, where the potential for finding additional high grade
shoots is favourable."

    Current Drilling

Drilling is continuously providing more details into the extent of the W
mineralization. Holes M-08-447, -449 and 425 intersected the W horizon 60, 70
and 125m downdip and below the current pitshell, respectively. This drilling
is focused in an area that previously had little drilling. Filling in drilling
gaps has the potential to convert waste to resource and ultimately reduce the
strip ratio.
Hole M-08-445 intersected wide intervals of Main Zone mineralization and
intersected 0.58 g/t PGM and Au and 0.28% Cu over 50m below the current
pitshell. These intersections within and outside the pit are the most westerly
on section and have the potential to increase the resource within the pitshell
as well as expand the current pitshell.
Drilling to date has confirmed a general observation that the W horizon
is persistent over large distances of strike length and where it thickens, the
grades increase.
Drilling with two rigs has resumed on the Benton JV property in order to
expand resources. Drilling on the main Marathon property for the feasibility
study is now complete. Two condemnation holes have to be drilled in July in
coordination with the feasibility study. Assays are currently pending for the
remaining eleven holes of the 2008 drilling campaign.

Marathon also has development and exploration stage properties in
southeastern Manitoba and western Newfoundland and Labrador. Marathon's
management plans to build on this focus through the advancement of its
properties, focusing on resource development and by examining other strategic
PGM and base metal opportunities within Canada.
