TORONTO, Nov. 12 /CNW/ - Mantis Mineral Corp ('Mantis'--CNQ 'MINE') is
pleased to announce that field crews and a track excavator have been mobilized
to the Orphan Mine gold project located 30-kilometers west of Geralton,
The crews will immediately commence a program of trenching and channel
cut sampling of the Orphan Main Vein, subsidiary sub-parallel Aker vein as
well as the Foisey vein system.
The Orphan Main Vein produced 3,525-tons of ore grading 0.689 ounces per
ton gold. The trenching of the Orphan Main is targeted to expose the vein for
a 200-meter strike length in a northwest direction stemming from near the
shaft collar. Intermittent cross-trenches will be excavated to determine its
The Aker vein situated 120-meters northeast of the Orphan shaft was
located in the past but has never been thoroughly exposed or sampled. We
anticipate that the current trenching program will greatly expand its extent.
The Foisey vein system which has returned gold assays of up to
0.62 ounces per ton in grab samples and in channel samples up to 0.23 ounce
per ton gold over 0.4-meters; will be exposed intermittently along a 700-meter
strike length. Past work on this vein revealed an intense zone of
silicification, quartz-stockworks veining, and potassium alteration indicative
of gold bearing structures.
Robin Ross, CEO, commented, "This is truly an exciting project. It is no
secret that we are surrounded by Kodiak Explorations Ltd. recent gold
discovery. We are anticipating uncovering a similar gold mineralized system."
