TORONTO, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - Mantis Mineral Corp ('Mantis'--CNQ 'MINT')
entered into an option agreement with Probe Mines Limited ('Probe'- TSX
Venture Exchange 'PRB") (reported May 28, 2007) for the right to earn a 51%
interest in the Tamarack Project, consisting of 360 mineral claims in the
McFauld's Lake Area directly adjacent to Spider Resources/KWG joint venture
where three significant volcanogenic base metal massive sulphides have been
discovered and which borders the claims held by Noront Resources Ltd. (The
Noront recently released information that its diamond drilling had
discovered visible copper mineralization in two holes. The total drill
intercept of the mineralized sulphide zone was 69 metres and 72.9 metres
respectively. (See Noront News Release dated 08/29/2007).
The Tamarack project is situated along the same geological horizon as
Noront's Double Eagle property including its Condor/Greestone Option project.
In previous drilling on the Tamarack Property a 7.8 metre section of
chalcopyrite-rich VMS mineralization grading 3.1% copper was intersected in
the "A-zone", starting at a vertical depth of 50 metres. Drill hole M7,
collared 50 metres west and down dip from M6, intersected the A-zone at 97
metres vertical depth and returned 2.4% copper over 6.0 metres. Both
intercepts also returned anomalous concentrations of zinc, gold and silver. In
addition to numerous geophysical conductors, the Property is also
distinguished by the presence of sulphide-mineralized volcanic horizons,
identified during drilling, which are highly anomalous in base metals.
Mantis is currently reviewing available information on the Tamarack
Property and anticipates initiating an exploration program in the near future.
Mantis Mineral Corp. is a Canadian exploration company with a portfolio
of quality gold and base metal properties located in mining friendly northern
