"Maman Dion" embraces ecologically friendly clothes washing - Thérèse Tanguay Dion is first spokesperson for Magik Ball

MONTREAL, Nov. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - In the pastel décor of a laundry room
specially set up for the occasion at Mel's Studio, Thérèse Tanguay Dion,
better known as Maman Dion, was introduced at a news conference as the first
spokesperson for Magik Ball, a new non-detergent clothes-cleaning product.
The mother of 14 children and a grandmother many times over, Mrs. Dion is
increasingly concerned about environmental issues. "It is essential that we
start taking specific action to prevent the deterioration of our lakes and
rivers," she remarked. "Magik Ball is a product I believe in, and it is one
that allows me to make people aware of the importance of choosing laundry
cleaners that do not contain phosphate."
Magik Ball contains tiny clay-based marbles high in oxides that, after
baking at 1600 degrees C, emit infrared rays. The rays, when active in water,
partition the water molecules. The water-reduced molecules are able to better
penetrate the fibres of the fabric and remove the dirt. Other natural elements
in the balls or marbles, such as silver, are bactericide agents that eliminate
unpleasant odors. Magik Ball protects the laundry from oxidization and fabric
discolouring. It also helps maintain the elasticity of clothing. It is
hypoallergenic, making it a nice alternative for consumers with sensitive skin
and/or are allergic to chemical products.
A supply of Magik Ball lasts for a year at the rate of 10 loads of
laundry per week. This results in at least 530 washes per year. Suggested
retail price is $59.95, which comes to 12 cents a load. Distributed by
Fabmark, a Quebec-based company, Magik Ball is sold in Quebec, notably at the
following retailers: Jean Coutu, Zeller's and Pharmacie Brunet. For further
