OTTAWA, Sept. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - EKOS Research Associates Inc., whose
election polls have led the industry for insight and accuracy throughout the
decade, is launching its 2008 election website (www.ekoselection.com) with a
major new poll as the election campaign is set to get underway. The poll has
been funded by EKOS, an independent, non-partisan private company operating in
Canada since 1980.
Results from this new poll find the Conservatives with a formidable
advantage over the Liberals as the writ is about to be dropped. The
Conservatives also have the leadership advantage, with Stephen Harper seen the
best and most trusted leader for the job of Prime Minister. Full details of
this poll are available now at (www.ekoselection.com).
Throughout the campaign, the (www.ekoselection.com) site will be
frequently refreshed with new polling information using our suite of polling
technologies. Today's poll was conducted using EKOS' unique hybrid
internet-telephone research panel, PROBIT(C). This panel is randomly recruited
from the general population, meaning that, the only way to be included in
PROBIT(C) is through random selection. Unlike opt-in internet-only research
panels, PROBIT (C) supports confidence intervals and error testing.
EKOS will also be using cutting edge Interactive Voice Recognition (IVR)
technology for the 2008 Election. These short IVR polls will telephone the
general public throughout the campaign and ask respondents to express opinions
on hot button issues as well as indicate vote intention. Extensive research
has been conducted by EKOS to ensure that this method produces comparable
results to both traditional telephone survey methods and the hybrid PROBIT(C)
method. IVR polling has been used extensively in the United States with
