been recognized for its cutting-edge expertise in stem cell transplantation,
as it has just attained the world's most rigorous certification in this field.
Awarded by the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT),
this attestation represents the highest possible level of quality. Indeed,
FACT applies the strictest standards to evaluate all aspects of a transplant
from patient care before, during and after the procedure to the collection of
stem cells and their handling in a specialized laboratory in accordance with
extremely strict quality criteria.
Dr. Jean Roy, Head of the MRH Hematology-Oncology Department and who was
also in charge of the certification project, welcomed the news with a great

Every year, more than 160 patients receive stem cell transplants at the

This certification is also another step towards the opening of the Centre
of Excellence for Cellular Therapy planned for 2010. This brand new complex
will allow the MRH to conduct research and develop state-of-the-art
