Madigan Communications salutes Montreal's decision to use giant static advertising to embellish city hall during upcoming renovations

MONTREAL, Feb. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - Madigan Communications, headquartered in
downtown Montreal, is very pleased with City Hall's recent decision to allow
the use of gigantic advertising nets to cover-up scaffoldings that will be
installed around City Hall during important upcoming restoration work of the
historical building.
In a public tender addressed to contractors and entrepreneurs, the City
of Montreal clearly indicated a preference in favor of installing spectacular
advertising faces in replacement of the traditional green mesh used on
scaffoldings for the duration of the restoration project, scheduled to last a
few years. These spectacular faces will provide security to both construction
workers and pedestrians, while embellishing the urban landscape in old
Montreal. This decision is a clear message from the City of Montreal
reinforcing safety for work crews and pedestrians, at the same time adding a
qualitative visual aspect to our city's urban core and creating a venue to
promote its services.
"After New York, Paris, Prague and Beijing, Montreal has decided to take
a leading role in ensuring security while matching the international trend of
embellishing major restoration sites and improving the urban landscape. In
fact, the City of Montreal will be the leader in taking advantage of the key
benefits of such a unique and innovative outdoor concept", said Jean Claude
Henri, President and CEO of Madigan Communications.
Developed by Madigan, this spectacular advertising concept is simple,
effective and offers a smart alternative to traditional mandatory green nets
covering-up scaffoldings on renovation sites. These gigantic faces, like the
ones erected on The Bay store downtown Montreal a few months ago, enhance the
aesthetic value of buildings under restoration while ensuring protection and
security of workers and passers-by. In addition, they provide advertisers with
a new, innovative outdoor medium in key downtown locations, one that captures
the general public and consumer's attention by it's size and temporary
"This will be a fabulous advertising venue for the city of Montreal, with
huge placards on the four faces of City Hall. They can be used to promote city
services, programming for the various summer festivals or the Grand Prix.
Instead of being disfigured for three years, City Hall can use these faces to
provide information and promote its services, especially during the summer
season", add Jean Claude Henri.
Madigan Communications has revolutionized outdoor advertising by offering
this unique concept that transforms bland construction sites into elegant and
secure ones. Their first installations in Montreal last fall were a banner
featuring Air Transat's 20th anniversary and a national promotion for SONY
Canada on The Bay's downtown store.
These gigantic faces - some reach up to 20,000sq.feet - are the most
spectacular static outdoor advertising faces installed in city centers in
Canada, and are a first in outdoor advertising history in the country. "Our
advertising support is similar to what can be seen in Times Square New York
and the supersized faces offer endless possibilities for advertisers to reach
urbanites and the business community in Canadian cities", said Madigan's
