Maclean's second annual "Canada's Best Professional Schools"

A comprehensive guide to post-graduate education, including Maclean's
ranking of Canadian law schools and a look at medical, business and
engineering schools across the country. In the issue of Maclean's hitting
    newsstands starting today.

TORONTO, Sept. 11 /CNW/ - Maclean's is the magazine students have trusted
for more than two decades to provide the most comprehensive information on
post-secondary education, through its university rankings, published each
November. And now, for the second year in a row Maclean's ranks a specific
program within those universities. Law has long been one of the most
competitive of professional programs. What makes a good law school and which
are the best in Canada?
The Maclean's law school ranking contains four elements, all drawn from
publicly available data: Elite firm hiring, national reach, Supreme Court
clerkships and faculty journal citations. Fifty per cent of the ranking weight
is devoted to student and graduate quality; the other 50 per cent is a measure
of faculty quality.

Canada's top three law schools, overall:
    1. University of Toronto
    2. McGill University, Montreal
    3. Osgoode Hall, York University, Toronto

Surprisingly, in the fourth and fifth place, the University of
British Columbia and the University of Victoria, have gained substantial
ground over last year's ranking.
The full ranking of Canada's law schools is available in the issue of
Maclean's on newsstands today, and to media through the contact below.
