Lyrtech enables Xilinx Spartan DSP FPGA launch demonstrations at the 2007 Embedded Systems Conference

QUEBEC CITY, April 5 /CNW/ - Lyrtech Inc. (TSX Venture Exchange: LYT), a
worldwide leader in digital signal processing technologies, announced today
that it will design and manufacture development platforms to support Xilinx
digital signal processing solutions. The platforms will feature both the
performance-leading Virtex DSP series and the new Spartan-DSP series of FPGA
devices. Xilinx demonstrations based on the Lyrtech development platform are
available at the Embedded Development Conference, held from April 2-5, booth
724, at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.
Xilinx chose Lyrtech to design and manufacture development platforms with
their new-generation FPGA devices aimed at showcasing their solutions and
supplying developers with high-performance, cost-efficient digital signal
processing environments. Lyrtech will complete this project with the
collaboration of Linear Technology Corporation.
The first in a series of platforms is the Spartan-3A DSP FPGA Development
Platform. This platform uses the new Spartan-3A DSP series of FPGA from the
Xilinx XtremeDSP product line. These devices offer developers great
flexibility, a wide range of peripherals, and a cost-efficient solution to
accelerate the development of their new products. It is ideally suited for
consumer-oriented wireless and multimedia video applications where
cost-effective solutions are essential.
"Lyrtech, a member of the Xilinx Alliance Program, brings extensive
experience deploying FPGA and DSP platforms, and has a history of working with
Xilinx to deliver cutting-edge development solutions," says Raj Seelam, DSP
Solutions Marketing Manager at Xilinx. "We believe that the results of this
partnership will provide developers with a highly scalable, cost-effective
platform to accelerate development of co-processing applications, while
accessing the price-performance-power advantages of our new
XtremeDSP-optimized devices."
"This agreement represents an important step forward in our relationship
with Xilinx. It leverages our expertise in DSP-FPGA co-processing that will
lead to profitable solutions for both parties," says Benoit Fleury, Lyrtech's
VP of Sales and Marketing. "With the design and manufacture of
state-of-the-art development platforms incorporating cutting-edge XtremeDSP
technology from Xilinx, Lyrtech is further extending its leadership as a
world-class ODM provider of advanced signal processing solutions."
