LUCKNOW, ON, April 17 /CNW/ - The inaugural Music in the Fields summer

August 22, 2009 and will feature some of Canada's top country music artists.
Performers confirmed include Johnny Reid, Doc Walker, George Canyon, Beverley
Mahood, Tara Oram and Alex J. Robinson. The event will be hosted by Mr. Lahey
and Randy from the hit Showcase series Trailer Park Boys.
Headlining the concert will be Johnny Reid. The platinum-selling artist
recently released his third studio album Dance With Me which has already been
certified gold in Canada. Dance with Me currently holds the No.2 spot on the
Canadian Country Charts, while his other two albums Kicking Stones and Born to
Roll hold the No.4 and No.6 spots respectively.
Popular band Doc Walker, fresh off their recent win at the Juno Awards
for Country Recording of the Year, will play the festival, along with
Juno-nominated singer George Canyon. Tara Oram, the star of CMT's The Tara
Diaries and currently charting with her single 538 Stars, will also perform.
Beverley Mahood, singer-songwriter and CMT personality joins the line-up, with
Alex J. Robinson, currently featured in the new Ontario Tourism commercial,
filling out the bill. With Randy and Mr. Lahey, from the hit Showcase series
Trailer Park Boys bringing their original comedy flavour to the event, Music
in the Fields promises to be a memorable and outstanding day of entertainment!
"We are thrilled to have such a fantastic line-up at the inaugural Music
in the Fields", says Rick McMurray, Kinsmen and co-chair of the event. Adding,
"It is a fantastic opportunity for music fans from all around south-western
and central Ontario to get together and see some of Canada's top country
musicians perform in this great setting."
Organizers plan to make Music in the Fields an annual event with profits
from the festival going to various charitable and local organizations in the
community. The Kinsmen's official charity, cystic fibrosis research, will also
be a recipient of the profits. Representatives from the Kinsmen estimate 6,000
and 8,000 tickets will be sold for this event.
Tickets for Music in the Fields go on sale on April 23, 2009 and can be
